Welcome to the NMC Data Portal

The Nevada Medical Center data portal is designed to provide information regarding the health of Nevadans and the resources in the healthcare system designed to meet the needs of our residents. By collecting data on several topics of emphasis, the NMC hopes to provide guidance on where to focus Nevada’s healthcare resources while identifying areas of opportunity for improved care. The methodology included herein uses various state-level data to rank and compare Nevada to other states and against itself to track the progress of our system towards measurable and quantifiable goals.

Methodology

Grades for the indicators in each category are calculated off a quintile system based upon the ranks out of 50 states plus Washington D.C. States ranked in the top 10 receive A rankings. States ranked within 11 to 20 will receive B rankings, C rankings will be assigned to states ranked 21 to 31, 32 to 41 will receive a D ranking while states in the bottom quintile receive F rankings. Category grades are then calculated as an average of all of the rankings within each category where each indicator receives equal weighting. The collected data throughout this site represent the most recent data available from each of the listed sources. In many cases involving federal datasets, there is considerable lag time in the public release of data, as it must be collected from all 50 states and adjusted by the reporting agencies to ensure consistency.
